We value and prioritize play-based, child-led therapy sessions, fostering an environment where children feel comfortable and empowered to engage in their own learning and development.

Individualized Care

We believe in tailoring therapy sessions to meet the unique needs of each child, ensuring personalized care and support.

Neurodiversity-Affirming

We embrace a neurodiversity-affirming approach, combining evidence-based techniques with respect for diverse communication styles and ways of thinking.

Family Engagement

We prioritize building strong relationships with families and actively involve parents and caregivers in the therapy process, recognizing the importance of their participation and support.

Empowerment & Confidence

Our ultimate goal is to spark confidence and communication in every child, empowering them to reach their maximum potential.

About Your Speech Therapist

Kristen Fernandez, MCD, CCC-SLP
Owner & Speech-Language Pathologist

Welcome to Spark Pediatric Therapy! I'm Kristen Fernandez, a pediatric speech therapist with a wealth of experience treating children across various settings. I earned my bachelor’s degree at Tulane University and completed my master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology at LSU Health New Orleans.

I founded Spark Pediatric Therapy with the vision of creating a space where therapy is rooted in relationships, empathy, and acceptance. Getting to know the children and families I work with is essential to me. I strive to form strong bonds that allow me to provide personalized therapy aligned with each family’s values and goals.

My approach to therapy embraces neurodiversity, blending engaging activities and play with parent education and evidence-based treatments. I'm passionate about helping my clients achieve transformative outcomes that enhance their quality of life. As a mother of three, I feel a deep sense of responsibility to ensure that every child in my community receives the best possible therapy.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband, son, twin daughters, and our 90-pound dog. Reading, traveling, and outdoor adventures are some of my favorite pastimes.
